Larry Deters

Interim Executive Director

Larry Deters, a 41year barbershopper is the Acting Executive Director of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He has previously held many offices in BHS both at the chapter and district level including his current assignment as Executive VP of the Dixie District. He has been a certified Sound/Singing Judge for 31 years and has sung in quartets and choruses on the International stage on a number of occasions. He is also the Commanding General of the Confederate Harmony Brigade and presently sings lead in the Music City Chorus and baritone in Sagacity, the current Dixie seniors champion.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Larry holds both a BS in Biological Sciences and an MS in Civil Engineering as well as a MHA from Xavier University. Prior to his retirement from the US Department of Veteran Affairs, he was the director of the VA's Mid-South region with responsibility for 7 hospitals and 14 outpatient clinics. He is married to Diane and has two daughters, three step-daughters, one step-son and 11 grandchildren. His hobbies are golf and traveling.
