 Dr. Jim Henry to Receive Honor from International Leadership Network

 

Dr. Jim Henry, director of the 160-voice 2004 and 2009 International Chorus Champions Ambassadors of Harmony (CSD), has been named winner of the2011 Dare to Lead Award from the International Leadership Network.  Jim is the first performer ever to receive this honor, which will be conferred in a ceremony on May 6. The organization has given the award each year since 1993 to recognize adult leaders who have made significant contributions to help young people achieve.  Past recipients have included former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner and his wife Brenda.

You Pick the Quartet, You Pick the Song!

Online Registration for Sing With the Champs 

Starts this Sunday, May 1

 

Sign up ONLINE starting at noon on Sunday May 1 for Sing With the Champs in Kansas City!  You'lll wear a gold medal and crush chords with one of the greatest quartets of all time - pick from Storm Front, Crossroads, Max Q, OC Times, Vocal Spectrum, FRED, Rural Route 4, or the Suntones on Saturday, July 9, from 9 am to noon. 

 

CLICK HERE to choose the song from each quartet's repertoire. All proceeds from the $50 registration go to Harmony Foundation. Sign-up will be first-come, first-served, with a limit of one song per person. Naked Voice Records (now a fully owned subsidiary of Niche Music Group), will once again sponsor the event and will process your credit card upon registration. You'll receive a digital video recording and photo immediately upon completion of your song.

The Champs are looking forward to singing with YOU!

Time.com Features Barbershop on Video

 

If you've been on vacation the last couple of weeks, you may have missed this video! Time.com, the on-line version of Time Magazine, released a 9 1/2 minute video story recently on barbershop, entitled "Barbershop: The Original Glee for Guys," filmed at the 2010 Convention in Philadelphia.  It includes footage of rehearsals, performances, interviews and more!  It's also out on iPad, and still listed as a featured video on the Time.com website. They've had tens of thousands of viewers,

The producer was Craig Duff, son of Willard Duff, a 50-year barbershopper with the San Antonio Chordsmen.  Craig is Director of Multimedia for Time.com.
