Mike Rowe Posts Podcast of His Tribute to Fred King on His Website The world-famous host of The Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe" wrote one of the best-loved Harmonizer articles of all time, honoring his dear friend and mentor, Freddie King (Nov../Dec. 2008 issue). Mike, also television's most popular narrator, just finished putting time in the studio to record it, and has posted it on his website, mikeroweWORKS. "The result is something I'm too biased to comment on," said Mike of the finished product, "but I'll tell you this--when I played it back, I cried like a 10-pound baby girl." Be sure to check it out! You might cry too--but you'll also laugh, so settle back, listen, and be moved! |

Special Edition of Preservation Magazine: "Remembering 9/11"

Canfield "Bud" D. Boone, who lost his life at the Pentagon. To read more, please CLICK HERE. Many of our chapters are performing special concerts to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of that horrendous day. Let us never forget those who lost their lives, and especially those who were lost in the line of duty, saving and serving others. |

CALLING ALL YOUTH! Perform at Carnegie Hall! For those of you 30 years old and under who have "a performance at Carnegie Hall" on your bucket list, getting to perform at that famous venue may be as easy as the old adage: Practice, Practice, Practice! Carnegie Hall will be producing a USA-Japan Goodwill Concert(free admission) on Monday, December 26 which will feature a youth Barbershop Chorus comprised of male singers up to age 30 from all over the US and Canada, under the direction of Joe Cerutti of the Alexandria Harmonizers. The concert will feature a joint performance with the youth chorus and a 3-time gold medal 100-piece youth orchestra from Japan. You would also be participating in a worthy cause, as Carnegie Hall is producing this show as a fund-raiser for the victims of the earthquake and tsunamis that struck Japan this year, and donations will be accepted. Bring your collegiate quartet or youth chorus, in part of in full. Individual singers are also welcome! Participants will prepare 5-6 songs (one of which will be back up for a solo by Tim Waurick). The chorus will be expected to arrive in NYC the morning of the 26th, rehearse all day, and perform that night. Arrangements for hotel, food, and busing will be made for a nominal fee. Participants will have to be able to learn songs and choreography without formal rehearsals, and will be tested in octets upon arrival in NYC. For more information please contact Joe Cerutti by

Promote Your Chapter by Hosting a Showing of American Harmony the Movie! Get ready to rent a big popcorn machine, because now your chapter can sponsor its own showing of "American Harmony", raising awareness of barbershop in your community and perhaps some money, too! Instead of trying to get a traditional theatre to show the film, which is difficult and expensive, your chapter will be able to show it in a church, community center, hotel ballroom or library -- for one night, or two! It's called a Four Wall Release, which literally means any space that has four walls and adequate seating. Appropriate projection and sound equipment, if not available in the space already, can be rented. In case you haven't seen the movie, it focuses on OC Times, Max Q, Vocal Spectrum, and Reveilleover a span of years, on stage and at home, in their personal quests for international gold.
Read more about the movie and the Four Wall Release plan HERE, and contact the producer of the film for questions
