At the Barbershop Harmony Society's core is of course, its great music. We're all in search of that perfect ballad to balance our uptempo, find the novelty number that features our tenor section leader, or unearth the hidden gem that becomes like a polecat to our chapter members. You'll find them all in the Premiere Series.
What is it?
The premier series is a compilation of the very best music the Society has to offer. Twice a year we publish 6 songs (sometimes 7) that embody the barbershop style at its best. There are songs by our beloved championship quartets (the Gold Medal Series), great Broadway pieces (Showtunes Collection), and standard barbershop tunes (Barbershop Classics).
The premier series was designed to be music that most choruses and quartets can sing, that aren't too difficult, and that have been vetted by the publication subcommittee. Each year they sing through literally hundreds of pieces to find a small handful of pieces that represent us the best. They are released twice a year, hence 2011a, 2011b, and now 2012a.
Great! How do we get it?
The Premiere series is released twice a year with sheet music and demo tracks (currently voiced by master 'trackster', Tim Waurick). All tracks have part dominant learning CDs available and are reasonably priced. In fact, all published sheet music from our Premiere series costs on average a dollar less per copy than music in our unpublished library. As each packet of six songs and demo CD is less than $15 we recommend every registered quartet and chorus receive it.
Find 'em, sing 'em, ring 'em!
