The Society Nominating Committee is seeking applications or nominations for two positions of Board Member At-Large on the 2011 Society Board of Directors. These positions are not related to any specific district, but represent all members of the Society in Board deliberations and decisions. Interested individuals must possess skills and experience to participate fully in making policy decisions that support and further the vision and mission of the Society. The Society Board particularly has identified several areas of experience and expertise that will help provide a balance among Board-member skill sets, and meet the challenges facing the Society today. Those areas are:

1. Strategic thinking and planning
2. Management of multiple sites or functional accountabilities
3. Financial experience that includes auditing or financial analysis for businesses and corporations
4. Marketing or public relations experience.

We also are interested in considering younger people (age 35 or below) with at least five years of business/professional experience and five years of barbershop experience.

That is not to say that men with other skill sets won't be considered—only that we want to place emphasis on trying to find men with the above skill sets as we look for potential 2011 candidates.

A few of the requirements for a Society Board Member At-Large:
• Possesses experience, knowledge, maturity, talent, leadership, communication skills, and expertise that will enable him to be an effective Board member
• Must have access to, and be comfortable using, e-mail
• Committed to, and possesses an understanding of, the vision and mission of the Society
• Available to serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2011.

If you’re willing to serve and help shape the future of the Society as a member of its Board of Directors, or know someone you believe is qualified and willing to do so, please let the Society Nominating Committee know by February 20.

In reviewing nominations, preference may be given to candidates with demonstrated experience at the district or Society level.

Furthermore, the Society Nominating Committee is seeking candidates for the position of Society Treasurer, who is elected to a one-year renewable term. A Treasurer candidate should have Controller/Treasurer/CFO experience or extensive public accounting experience auditing medium-to-large-size corporations, preferably including the non-profit sector.

Forward the name and contact information (e-mail address and telephone number) for a Society Board Member At-Large and/or Treasurer candidate to:
