For a complete web experience on www.barbershop.org, you'll want to equip your computer with these FREE applications.

To get the most from this site, you'll want some fairly standard software installed, and a few basic computer skills.
An important aim of the Barbershop Harmony Societye-business initiative is to provide easy access to all education materials throughout the site. For that reason, the majority of content on the site can be viewed in a browser.
To read content on the site
Any Java-capable browser. Generally, either Internet Explorer version 6 or higher, Firefox version 1.5 or higher, America Online release 4 or higher.
Using Adobe Acrobat documents
The Adobe Acrobat Reader is required for most sheet music, tags, and manuals.
- Download Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 5.0 or later recommended)
- problems with Acrobat? Occasionally the Acrobat plug-in to the browser misbehaves, and the documents fail to appear in the browser window.
- In Internet Explorer:
Right-click the link, choose Save Target As… and save to your hard drive - In Netscape:
Right-click the link, choose SAVE LINK AS… and save to your hard drive
- Locate file on your hard drive and open in Acrobat.
To listen to streaming media
Download RealOne Player Basic
The leading streaming media format, with widest installed base. Most of the archived content on spebsqsa.org is in this format. Supported by most platforms, and effective at dialup speeds.
Look for the FREE basic player – Real has a way of trying to guide you into buying the Plus version, which is not required for www.barerbshop.org 
Problems with RealOne Player?
A few items in our Jukebox were originally encoded in Real version 3.0, which is several years old, and newer versions of the RealOne Player don't always install all of the older “codec” software. At any rate, you can get it by choosing TOOLS | PREFERENCES | AUTO UPDATE and clicking UPDATE NOW. Also, leave the Auto Update box checked to permit RealPlayer to get codecs on demand.
Download Windows Media Player
The other major streaming format. Most Windows machines have this installed already. Versions also available for Macintosh, PocketPC and other handhelds!
To communicate
You will do best with an HTML-capable email client, such as
- Outlook Express. Included as part of Microsoft Internet Explorer, offers standard Internet e-mail and news access, required by many home and small-business users. Outlook Express supports Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP).
- Eudora. A long-loved favorite.
- America Online versions 6 and later.
Chat
- America Online or AOL Instant Messenger have more than 45 million users, including many Barbershoppers.

Some files on this site are compressed in ZIP archives -- get WinZip to decompress
Microsoft PowerPoint viewer
Some links on the site are prepared PowerPoint presentations. Others are converted to web format for your convenience.
