Lou Perry Harmony University Scholarships competition now openA talented arranger will earn a scholarship to Harmony University 2008! Updated: 2/22/2008 3:51:45 PM The adjudication panel for the 2008 Lou Perry Harmony University scholarships is Dennis Driscoll (chair), Mel Knight, and Burt Szabo. Each participant will receive a detailed review of his arrangement by one of these three. There will be at least one winner this year, who will receive prepaid tuition to Harmony University 2008 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Transportation is the individual's responsibility. Results will be announced by letter to all participants by May 15, 2008. Submissions of contestants who include an email address will be acknowledged. Contest rules:1. 2. Contestants need not be members of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Each contestant may submit only one song/arrangement. 3. Arrangements of original songs will not be accepted. This is a contest for arrangers, not songwriters. 4. Only arrangements that are suitable for competition by male quartets and choruses, under current contest rules, will be acceptable. 5. The song may be in Public Domain or under copyright, but it must have been commercially published at some time. 6. A song that has been previously arranged by someone else is acceptable, but the submitted arrangement must be based on the original sheet music, not on another arrangement, and the submitted arrangement must be noticeably different from the previous arrangement. 7. The arrangement must be original and unassisted, i.e., no consulting with other arrangers. 8. Arrangements previously submitted in prior Lou Perry scholarship competitions are ineligible. 9. Previous winners and persons whose arrangements have already been published either by the Society or by a commercial publisher are ineligible. 10. Preference (and high scores) will be given to arrangements of songs that have not been frequently recorded by Society groups, or published by the Society. Entries will be judged on:
