Riptide deals with transitionHow do you replace a quartet member, especially if you're a medalist? Updated: 4/21/2003 11:47:00 AM By Jeff Selano, bass of Riptide We came to a juncture last fall when we sat down together as loving brothers and asked, "Where are we, where are we going and how do we get there?" Eric shared with us that his life had become incredibly busy and that the time away from family and job was taking its toll. Eric is an extremely successful director of customer management for an Internet rewards company, but was working 80 hours a week. What time he had free he had to spend with his family. This was completely understood as Riptide has always been about family and supporting one another. Eric wanted to make sure that he was replaced by the right guy and took a very active role in the selection process. Without EK we would never have gotten to audition the guys we did. When we decided to sing with Rick Taylor, we felt a match both in music and personality that fit the best. I'm leaving out a ton here because there will be an article in an upcoming Harmonizer issue that will share our experience that we hope willl assist others in making this journey. We truly love Eric. He is a man of faith, principle and honor, and he continues to be a valued member of the team. Riptide will continue to rock and ring in the barbershop style. We honor our past while looking forward to tomorrow. We look forward to seeing all of our buddies backstage in Montreal. |
