BARBERSHOP HARMONY SOCIETY PICKS JIM LEE AS OFFICER FOR 2008
NASHVILLE, Tenn. … The world’s largest all-male singing society elected Jim Lee of North Oaks, Minn., to serve as Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors.
Lee will help guide financial planning and accounting for the Barbershop Harmony Society, a non-profit organization of 30,000 male close-harmony singers in the United States and Canada. He will serve a one-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2008. BHS has an annual operating budget of $6 million.
Lee retired from the business world in 2001 after serving in long-term positions as Chief Financial Officer of a Fortune 500 company and a Class 1 railroad. Over the past 30 years, he has served on the boards of several privately owned companies and banks, two publicly held companies, and various non-profit organizations, including the Twin Cities’ Northern Star Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
In his barbershop life, Lee formerly headed the Society’s Land O’ Lakes District (MN, WI, ND, Manitoba, Saskatchewan) as President. A Society member for 20 years, he has held key volunteer leadership positions in both the Greater St. Paul Area Chapter (North Star Chorus) and the LOL District. He sings lead in Tune X 4, the 2004 Land O’Lakes district seniors’ quartet champion.
