Barbershop Harmony Society hires Julie Grower

Nashville, Tenn. (March 11, 2008) --- The Barbershop Harmony Society announces the hiring of Julie Grower as the

new Library and Licensing Coordinator for the non- profit organization headquartered in downtown Nashville.

In this new role, Grower will be responsible for coordinating operations of the Old Songs Library music, Published and Unpublished Arrangement Library, recordings, symphony scores, database managements and music licensing operations.

Hailing from New York State, Grower brings a wealth of experience in music and media licensing to the Barbershop Harmony Society, having recently served eight years at Viacom/MTV Networks. Her professional experience also includes work in the publishing and cable industries in the areas of business affairs and marketing as well as experience in recording studio settings as a music and sound effects librarian, editor and sales executive.

Rick Spencer, Director of Music and Education for the Society commented, “I’m excited to have the expertise of someone of Julie Grower’s caliber on staff in the music department. This will allow us to better serve our membership in the area of music licensing and copyright expertise. Her experience makes her the perfect fit for expanding our current Music Library operations.”

Grower earned a Bachelor of Science in Music and Media Arts at the State University of New York at New Paltz. Her studies included voice, music theory, ethnomusicology and mass communication. Her first love is singing and she has participated in various vocal ensembles, including a female a cappella group called “Woven Tones”. She has sung professionally in studio and live settings, specializing in harmony.
