70 years and Going Strong!

A special message from Ed Watson, the Executive Director
and CEO of the Barbershop Harmony Society

Gentlemen,

Today we celebrated the 70th birthday of the Barbershop Harmony Society.  It is a time to remember old friends, to add new ones, and to reflect for a moment on the values that led Rupert and O. C. to begin an organization that preserves, propagates, and encourages vocal music and close harmony among men of good will.  Please think about the joy and excitement that a finely tuned chord can bring, and try not to smile.

Here in Nashville, we celebrated the opening of the Harmony Marketplace gift shop and the unveiling of a 30 foot tall Norman Rockwell print on the north wall of Harmony Hall.  The Mayor of Nashville proclaimed this Barbershop Harmony Week in Nashville and we sang a few for those who could not be with us, including those protecting us overseas.

So, my friends, I hope to see you all this summer.

Happy Birthday, Society, and many, many more…

Ed
