FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How many singers do I need in order to participate in the Festival?
A. You only need 12, including the director
Q. What financial assistance is there available to competing choruses?
A. Through the generosity of the Harmony Foundation, the director and each singer in the chorus will have two nights in a convention hotel paid for, in addition to their Midwinter Convention Registration (ticket), as well as one meal on Friday evening, January 20.
Q. Is my chorus required to compete against other groups?
A. Not at all! You may choose the rating only option, and ‘sing your hearts out’, enjoy the shows, tag-singing, and camaraderie of the weekend, all without any of the pressures of competition. Only your chorus will know how you scored.
Q. What’s the deal with the third song? Does it have to be barbershop?
A. Absolutely not! You are encouraged to use this song to sing anything you want. The song has to be a cappella though, but can be as many (or as few) voice parts as you desire.
