BHS Seeking Applicants for Certified Leadership Facilitator Program

The Barbershop Harmony Society continues to expand its education offerings, and seeks dynamic, effective facilitators to continue to support our chapters through “thought leadership”. The group of certified facilitators will be part of a talent pool entrusted with the new Healthy Chapter Initiative leadership materials which will circulate in district leadership academies and other special events where Barbershop Harmony Society educational offerings are infused into an event.

Seeking our next class of between 10 and 20 facilitators, the BHS Leadership Operations Project Team (LOPT) is looking for barbershoppers with demonstrated facilitation experience who will be certified to not only present the leadership curriculum but also, serve as a support conduit between all of our chapters and further advance the Healthy Chapter Initiative.

Applicants accepted to be in this next class will be required to commit to the following time commitment:

  • Pre-work including the review and input on six hours of recorded material prior to July 1
  • Course shadowing and evaluation at Harmony University 2017 at Belmont University in Nashville
  • Availability in November, January, or February to attend a District Leadership Academies to deliver curriculum and material

Leadership courses will be offered as a series at HU2017. As a member of the class you will observe, and possibly lead discussions during one of the two offerings. Additionally, you will be shadowing the BHS THINK! Program and course offering at HU2017, an administrative leadership track that parallels the music leadership and chorus coaching tracks at the school. Finally, there will be a daily review session at the end of each day to analyze, recap, and participate in the overall uplift of these courses.

If this sounds interesting to you, please review the attached page for competencies and submit a letter of interest that addresses your experience in these areas, along with one letter of recommendation preferably from someone who has observed you in action.

Our turnaround on this opportunity is quick! Submissions must be received by February 24th, and class selection will be completed by March 15th.

Please send submissions and questions to and inform your District President that you've applied.
