3 Options for Music Educators
To help provide clear pathways for music educators to attend HU, we proudly offer the following three options:
You have the option of purchasing a ticket directly or requesting a purchase order so a district, school, or booster can cover the cost of registration. Learn how to get BHS approved for vendor status.

SATURDAY-ONLY OPTION
Learn the principles of the barbershop style as well as multiple classroom resources for effective teaching. The Saturday-only Option schedule is July 29 from 8:00 am–9:00 pm and includes:
6:30–8:00 am– breakfast on campus
8:00 am–2:00 pm– 45-minute classes (full class list here; suggested class list here)
12:00–2:00 pm– lunch on campus
2:00–3:00 pm– General Session
3:00–5:00 pm– free time
5:00–7:00 pm– dinner on campus
8:00–9:00 pm– Saturday Show
Cost: $99. Ticket.

WEEKLONG HALF-TIME OPTION
Professional Development Hours Available: 30
Learn deeper principles of the barbershop style as well as many classroom resources for effective teaching. The Weeklong Halftime Option is Monday–Friday July 24–28 8:00 am–1:00 pm and Saturday July 29 8:00 am–9:00 pm and includes:
6:30–8:00 am– breakfast on campus
8:00–9:00 am- class of your choice (full class list here)
9:15–10:15 am- General Session
10:30 am–12:30 pm– Music Educator Seminar
12:30–2:00 pm– lunch on campus including optional chat and chew session with faculty or admin of HU

WEEKLONG FULL-TIME OPTION
Professional Development Hours Available: 50+!!!
Learn deeper principles of the barbershop style as well as many classroom resources for effective teaching, including courses specifically for music educators. The Weeklong Full-time Option is Sunday–Saturday July 23–29 and, in addition to meals, includes:

Scholarships Available
Scholarships are available for music educators currently working in public or private vocal music education. Applications are reviewed and awarded every week beginning in March. Applications close in June or until all scholarships are awarded. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive an email with instructions on how to register.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT and CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS AVAILABLE
Teachers have three options for professional development:
Up to fifteen (15) hours of professional development for the full week (6 for the Saturday-only Option)
Up to four (4) continuing education units (CEUs)
Up to three (3) graduate credits
In the past, graduate credit was $55/unit and CEUs were $45/unit. Price subject to change for 2023. No additional cost for PD.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL STUDENTS
The Next Generation All Voices Chorus is for young singers who want to learn more about barbershop. This chorus experience is a mix of fun, incredible learning with singers of the same generation. Next Gen participation is open to youth 18–30 years old with an outstanding director and the best of the best section leaders! Singers will rehearse three charts and have curated educational content from various HU faculty designed especially for younger singers. The experience will culminate in a performance on the Saturday evening show. Ticket (select commuter option).
The Harmony Camp Chorus is for middle and high school-aged singers who want to learn more about barbershop. This incredible performance experience features discovering, rehearsing, and collaborating with other young singers who will learn from some of the best and brightest in barbershop. Harmony Camp participation is open to youth ages 11–17 years old in the New Orleans-area (commuters only). Campers will start their day at 9:30 and end at 3:30. They will receive sheet music and learning media, a t-shirt, a water bottle and bag, lunch while on Loyola campus, and world class instruction. The experience will culminate in a performance on the Saturday evening show. Ticket.
