Safety Protocols for 2022 Midwinter Convention

The Barbershop Harmony Society is committed to offering a safe, accessible event. Here are the measures we're taking for everyone's mutual protection.

Highlights

  • The 2022 Midwinter Convention will have a mask requirement in all indoor spaces, except when performing.
  • The 2022 Midwinter Convention will be a fully vaccinated event, with vaccination verification required.
  • All events (including afterglows and informal gatherings) will be strictly limited to registered attendees.
  • BHS will limit capacity to 1,500 attendees (50%) to allow distancing between parties in the Civic Auditorium.

BHS Safety Requirements/Commitments

  • Our 2022 Midwinter Convention will be a fully vaccinated event, with vaccination verification required.
  • All attendees will be required to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. We will partner with a 3rd party to authenticate the vaccination status of all attendees prior to the event.
  • An attendee is considered fully vaccinated two weeks (14 days) after they have completed either the second dose in a two-dose series (i.e.. Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca) or after a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine. We will also accept a mix of two of the above vaccines (i.e. one dose of Moderna and one dose of Pfizer vaccines). Attendees should complete their final vaccine by December 30, 2021, to be considered fully vaccinated for the 2022 Midwinter Convention.
  • We will accept WHO-approved vaccines, plus vaccines authorized or approved by the national health authority of the country where it was administered.
  • Any attendee needing an exemption due to a medical condition, disability or sincere religious belief will need to complete this COVID-19 Vaccination Exemption Accommodation Form and bring the signed form along with a proof of a negative COVID test (molecular, PCR or antigen). Test must be taken no more than 72 hours prior to the start of the event. Home testing kit results will not be accepted.
  • Our 2022 Midwinter Convention will have a mask requirement in all indoor spaces, except when performing (following federal, state, local and CDC guidelines). We will continue to closely monitor the situation and reserve the right to adjust this requirement based on the situation at the time of the event.
  • Booster shots are recommended, when eligible, according to CDC guidelines.
  • All events (including afterglows and informal gatherings) will be strictly limited to registered attendees.

Venue Safety Requirements/Commitments:

  • Our venue has received the GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation, which ensures the Civic Auditorium & Convention Center are implementing the industry‚Äôs highest standards for cleaning and disinfection of infectious agents like the novel coronavirus.
  • Cleaning crews have increased cleaning frequency with special attention provided to high-touch areas (door handles/push plates, elevators, handrails, windowsills, etc.)
  • Use of color-coordinated microfiber cloths to eliminate cross-contamination in high-touch areas Use of electrostatic/disinfectant sprayers
  • Enhanced air handling filtration system
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers have been strategically placed throughout the building in high traffic areas
  • State, local, and CDC recommended health & hygiene reminders/signage have been placed throughout the facility to remind guests and employees of appropriate PPE, proper handwashing, respiratory etiquette, and physical distancing requirements
  • BHS will limit capacity to 1,500 attendees (50%) to allow distancing between parties in the Civic Auditorium.
  • Pasadena has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country. As of September 28, 94.8% of Pasadenans have received at least one dose and 87.7% are fully vaccinated.
